POEM 2- MY PARENTS
NOTES TO PARENTS & TEACHERS:
This poem teaches kids gratitude. It is short, impactful and straight to the point. Even though it particularly highlights gratitude to one's parents, one may ask a kid after reading: "Who are you grateful for today?". You may be surprised at what their answers will be.
ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS:
1. Paint a thank you card:
Let kids paint a thank you card for someone they cherish or appreciate.
2. Let them draw a picture of their family.
3. Roleplay ways to help parents at home.
4. Let them make a hand craft gift for their parents.

POEM 3- MY DOG
NOTES TO PARENTS & TEACHERS
This poem introduces kids to age-appropriate humor in a cheerful, joyful and child-centered way. Humor can help children to build confidence through play and expression, help them associate joy to reading, support social bonding and help them learn to laugh at small frustrations.
ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS:
1. Play doggy detectives-
After reading this poem with your student or your child, ask them: What made bingo bark? Is it a knock at the door, the sock laying around the corner, the flying birdie, or the dancing tree? Surely, they are full of laughs and giggles at this point. The purpose of this is for humor and bonding, or in other words, for laughter and connection.
2. Let them draw, paint and design Bingo's dog house.
